Drug Bust in New Orleans'

Narcotics and Task Force Officers Worked the Streets of New Orleans Last Week and Confiscated Narcotics and Firearms



First District Narcotics and Task Force Units hit the streets last week and made 25 cases for several incidents involving Felony, Misdemeanor and Municipal violations in various areas in the First District and confiscated narcotics including 159 Hydrocodone and 118 Soma pills and seized $1,921.00 in cash.           

Second District Narcotics and Task Force Units made arrests for Felony and Misdemeanor violations and confiscated Narcotics from various areas in their district.   

Third District Narcotics and Task Force Units arrested six persons for one felony, three Misdemeanors and two municipal violations.  They conducted wanted checks and made one Narcotics case and confiscated Methamphetamine and Marijuana.     


Fourth District Narcotics and Task Force Units booked 33 persons and made 43 cases for various Felony, Misdemeanor and Municipal violations.  In the Algiers area they confiscated three guns, 34.52 grams of Marijuana, a Crack Pipe and seized $1,302.00 in cash.          

                                                                                                                                                                                     
Fifth District Narcotics and Task Force Units made 21 cases for mostly Misdemeanor violations.  They made three Narcotics cases and confiscated Marijuana and Crack Cocaine.    
               

Sixth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated mostly Felony cases and arrested 15 persons.  In the seven Narcotics cases they made, they confiscated 9.40 grams of Heroin, 9.45 grams of Crack Cocaine, 2.45 grams of Marijuana and 1.58 grams of Crack.  


Seventh District Narcotics and Task Force Units booked 14 persons for Felony, Misdemeanors and Municipal violations.  They conducted a search warrant and wanted check and confiscated two guns and Marijuana.  They picked up one truant and five curfew violators.    Officers were conducting a suspicious person’s check, when one the subjects attempted to avoid Officer Davis.  Officer Davis approached the subject who became combative. Officer Davis managed to place the subject on the ground.  The subject managed to retrieve a small handgun and aim it at Officer Davis.  Officer Davis disarmed the subject. The subject was arrested for Aggravated Assault Illegal Carrying of a Firearm and Resisting.          

             

Eighth District Narcotics and Task Force Units booked 17 persons for Misdemeanor and Municipal violations and issued 26 Summons in lieu of arrest.

Any person who, after the commission of a felony, shall harbor, conceal, or aid the offender, knowing or having reasonable ground to believe that he has committed the felony, and with the intent that he may avoid or escape from arrest, trial, conviction, or punishment shall be charged with R.S. 14:25; Relative to Accessories After the Fact. 


An accessory after the fact may be tried and punished, notwithstanding the fact that the principal felon may not have been arrested, tried, convicted, or amenable to justice.  


Whoever becomes an accessory after the fact shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars, or imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not more than five years, or both; provided that in no case shall his punishment be greater than one-half of the maximum provided by law for a principal offender.
