Muder Victim Identified

Victim Identified in Murder on
Freret Street


New Orleans –The victim who was fatally shot has been identified as 19-year-old Errol Meeks.  The offense occurred shortly after 11:00 P.M., in the 5100 block of
Freret Street
.



According to investigators, Second District officers received a call of a “shooting” and upon their arrival; the officers located Meeks lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.  Emergency medical technicians arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim dead.


Currently, investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) involved in this offense, as well as a motive.  Detective Robert Hurst is in charge of the investigation.


Errol Meeks has prior arrests for illegal possession of marijuana (2009), and a curfew violation.
